The Domaine Thénard is ideally located in the heart of Givry, a stone’s throw from the Porte de l’Horloge. The large porch of the winegrower’s house leads into a huge inner courtyard, with the wine cellar shop right at the entrance. Born in 1760, this estate has remained very much a family business. The last three generations are at the helm with Jacques Bordeaux Montrieux, the grandfather, Jean Baptiste his son and his wife Dominique and André his grandson who is increasingly involved in the management and vinification of the estate.
More than 70% of the vines are planted in Givry on the most beautiful plots of land in the commune, Les Boischevaux, Clos du Cellier aux Moines and the Monopole Clos Saint Pierre, which are 1er crus. In the village appellation, the red also honours Givry as does the white and in the same colour, the Clos du Cellier with the monk 1er Cru. The winery and the cellars, remarkable for their great height, can be visited. The moment is precious in a XVIIth century building with a typical architecture of the region with a vaulted roof structure. You will discover the traditions of the house, which mainly vinifies its wines in wooden vats and also partially matures them in tuns. Domaine Thénard also attracts great wine lovers as several parcels are exploited in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits with fabulous appellations such as Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile des Vergelesses and Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru. And for the whites, Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean and Montrachet Grand Cru! Wines in their magnificence even if their prices contrast with those of the Côte Chalonnaise
